Zadar

The area of Zadar is proud of its rich, 3.000 years long history. Nin, Pag and Biograd used to be royal cities, and the centre of area is the city of Zadar, one of the most interesting Croatian cities with its historical and cultural heritage.
Zadar and its tourist region are in the centre of Croatian Adriatic coast, in the most indented part of the Adriatic archipelago. Surrounding it, there are as many as four national parks, Plitvice, Mountain Park Paklenica, unique waterfalls of the river Krka and a beautiful insular archipelago Kornati with its 147 islands, and Natural Parks Velebit and Telašæica. You can reach all of the national parks by car or boat in 1-2 hours. Natural beauties, numerous bays and beaches, cultural and historical monuments, diverse gastronomic facilities with exquisite home specialties, all these make Zadar and its area one of the most attractive tourist spots in Croatia. Its tourist attractiveness is built on the mixture of nautical tourism, diversity in accommodation and gastronomy, environment, beautiful beaches and promenades, excursions to its outskirts, interesting cultural, artistic and popular events and especially its valuable cultural and historical monuments. The historical core of Zadar is irresistible to all admirers and lovers of historical monuments and cultural heritage.
Zadar has a population of about 77.000; due to its geographical position, its climate is mainly typical Mediterranean, although there are some influences of continental and, in the slopes of Velebit, even Alpine climate. There are considerably more sunny days in the area of Zadar than in the Northern Adriatic; it is even sunnier than Rome and as sunny as the most popular tourist spots on the Italian and French coast. Pleasant weather and “the most famous sunset in the world” will make your stay in Zadar engaging and lovely.
